What is Devin?
Devin is an AI coding agent from Cognition, designed to work like an autonomous software engineer. You give it a task, and it plans the work, writes and tests code in its own cloud environment, and delivers the result, often as a pull request.
You can run several Devin sessions in parallel, follow and steer them as they work, and use Devin Desktop (the new name for the Windsurf editor since June 2026) for hands-on coding with AI assistance.
